About
Rob has always been passionate about art, starting with cartooning in kindergarten. From cartooning, his artwork graduated to sketching and painting wildlife and landscapes. Whether exploring on bikes, camping, fishing, or long hikes, inspiration was all around. He finds being outdoors amongst nature both inspiring and intoxicating.
His artistic talents took a backseat while raising a family and pursuing a demanding career. Painting and art for him has always been a yearning which brings both great joy, and, frustration on the days when the paint and the mind are not aligned. The inspiration for all his paintings are created from numerous hours in the field, research and thumbnail sketches.
Travels have led him to many amazing places, hiking on the Canadian tundra to photograph caribou and wolves, several jungle excursions to the Amazon basin in Ecuador, Brazil and Peru in search of jaguars, macaws, parrots, monkeys, reptiles or whatever marvel of nature passed by. Closer to home, the Great Bear Rainforest, Rockies and Grasslands National Park has provided inspiration and are true marvels to be protected and treasured.
He works primarily in acrylics on board or canvas. His goal is for the viewer of his paintings to reflect on natures beauty or a special moment of their past.
As an active supporter of Ducks Unlimited, Pacific Salmon Foundation, and Rainforest Trust, a 5% donation of all proceeds from the sale of his work is donated to charities supporting habitat restoration and preservation.
